Concerto Copenhagen and Lars Ulrik Mortensen presents the three symphonies by Joseph Haydn; Merkur, Trauer, Palindrom.

A superior abundance, great inventiveness, total control, and a childlike playfulness characterize both Haydn and the three symphonies that Concerto Copenhagen, under the direction of Lars Ulrik Mortensen, presents in this album.

Three symphonies originally all composed and performed at the isolated palace Esterháza in 1771-72. Here, Haydn, with an almost scientific trial-and-error approach, created new, challenging, dramatic, and dynamic music - music he rarely revisited later in life.

In HAYDNDYAH, Concerto Copenhagen brings a fresh perspective to these symphonies with a unique approach that captures the intensity and intrigue of Haydn's isolated creations. By delving into the language, effects, and nuances that Haydn employed for his exclusive audience, the orchestra under direction of Lars Ulrik Mortensen has crafted interpretations that resonate with the contemporary audiences while honoring the original spirit of the compositions.
