2017 - a landmark year for the National Centre for Early Music, York, UK - May-July 2017
2017 is a significant year for early music in the UK and the National Centre for Early Music continues to drive celebration and appreciation forward, with a year of highlight anniversaries.
The Beverley & East Riding Early Music Festival (Thursday 25 – Monday 29 May) celebrates its 30th landmark year. The historic Yorkshire market town of Beverley is filled fine music including The Tallis Scholars and La Serenissima and an associated illustrated manuscript exhibition Through the Looking Glass, runs in Beverly Minster as part of Hull's celebrations as European Capital of Culture.
And the internationally renowned York Early Music Festival celebrates its 40th year in 2017. Widely regarded as the jewel in the crown of the city's many festivals, guest artists include I Fagiolini, The Sixteen and the award-winning Consone String Quartet. All taking place across some of York's finest historic venues.
