SOLO IN DUE – self-accompanied singing from the 13th to the 19th century

Self-accompanied singing is a millennia-old practice in almost all cultures, but it has completely disappeared from Western-style "classical" music, not however from the popular music of our time. With the concert "Solo in due" we take up the long musical tradition and present three artists with very different repertoires: "Cantigas" from the 13th century (VivaBiancaLuna Biffi), madrigals and chansons of the 16th and 17th century (Giovanna Baviera) and German Lied of the 19th century (Ulrich Messthaler). The concert will take place in the atmospheric Minster Hall of the Bishop's Residence (Bischofshof) in Basel/Switzerland and will also be livestreamed.
