Motet Images from Antwerp in concert
20 August 2023/ Belgium / Antwerp
During Laus Polyphoniae, 16th century motet images – engravings of scenes from the Bible that also incorporate polyphonic scores – from the Museum Plantin-Moretus in Antwerp will be premièred at an exclusive concert by Utopia. The ensemble specialises in 16th century Flemish vocal polyphony.
The motet images are unique Flemish masterpieces that combine two particular elements: music and the art of printing. The images will be reflected in a contemporary visual and musical response by the composer-video artist Benjamien Lycke. Museum Plantin-Moretus also offers the exceptional opportunity to view the motet images during the festival.
