MUSICA ANTICA IN CASA COZZI
As part of the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo Da Vinci (1452–1519), Early Music at Casa Cozzi presented a series of events focusing on the evolution of musical thinking in relation to scientific thinking, from the Middle Ages until Galileo Galilei’s (1564–1642) observations.
The concert scheduled for Friday 1 February at 9pm, …principia dai sentimenti, took us on a journey through sound conceived by Leonardo da Vinci. This is an idea of Polish musician Sławomir Zubrzycki, who built a musical instrument designed by the Renaissance artist in the Codex Atlanticus: the viola organista, which looks like a piano and sounds like a cello. In 2009 Sławomir Zubrzycki, – pianist, claviolinist, composer, and constructor of musical instruments–, came across the traces of a real rarity: the keyboard-bowed instrument designed by Leonardo da Vinci, but which had almost been unknown and forgotten. Fascinated by the facts from the past, in the years 2009 – 2012 Zubrzycki created his own version of Leonardo da Vinci’s design, drawing also on other instruments from 1575 – 1625.
On Saturday 2 February, at 11am, the musician met at a conference open to the general public.
