Concertgebouw Brugge (BE)
Once upon a time, there was a family that travelled all over the world. The oud set off from the Middle East, where it was born more than 4,000 years ago, travelling to the west and the east, sometimes bowed, but usually plucked, and with varying lengths of neck. In Europe the lute and its many brothers and sisters blossomed. In the Far East the Chinese pipa, the Japanese biwa and others were created. Concertgebouw Brugge sketches a family portrait – in countless strings, two concerts and a lecture performance – by strumming stars from near to very far.
