ANTIQUA FESTIVAL 2019 “UN-PLUCKED”
2 to 22 August 2019
International Early Music festival - Bolzano, Italy
Violin and cello, harp and lute, harpsichord and gamba: all of these instruments has a unique sound. One thing though they do have in common: they can be played “pizzicato” (plucked). For the first time the title of ANTIQUA takes inpiration from a performance tecnique to put together the mosaic of the program, which is dedicated to the plucked strings and their more famous performers. Jean Rondeau and Cristophe Rousset (harpsichord), Thomas Dunford (lute), Keyvan Chemirani (santur), Fabio Biondi (violin) with his orchestra Europa Galante. The Wiltener Sängerknaben and the youth-orchestra Theresia will represent the youngest generation of musicians. We are also very excited to have as guests Ashley Solomon (traverso) in duo with Claudio Astronio (harpsichord), and the Italian organist Maurizio Salerno.
