Concert marathon Missa Aurea
17 to 19 August 2019
This year Laus Polyphoniae, the summer festival of AMUZ, once again reveals the value of academic research, turning it into resonant music. Three leading ensembles - Cappella Pratensis, Cappella Mariana and Stile Antico - show the results of their research in three unique concerts. Central is the Missa aurea that is sung in honor of Mary. Cappella Pratensis will sing from the original source: the choirbook of the Burgundian court chapel. Cappella Mariana, the revelation from Eastern Europe when it comes to Late Mediaeval and Renaissance music, takes the only surviving source of Ockeghems mass as its starting point: the gorgeous Chigi Codex. And Stile Antico tackles the late 15th century music: Regis’ mass is a masterly tribute to both Du Fay and the Virgin Mary. The three concerts are each initiated by musicologist Jennifer Bloxam, professor at Williams College (US).
