Recreation d’Armide de Lully, révision de Louis-Joseph Francœur (1778)

8 May 2019

Le Centre de musique baroque de Versailles and le Concert Spirituel present the Armide de Lully, revised by Louis-Joseph Francoeur in 1778 at the Palais des Beaux-Arts (BOZAR) in Brussels on May 8, after two performances at the Théâtre des Champs -Élysées and the Arsenal de Metz the 1st and 3rd of April. Alternative version of  the Gluck one  (which caused scandal), not represented at the time, Armide of 1778, played in 2019, is not a recreation, but a real creation!

Published for the occasion by the CMBV, the autograph manuscript of the score reveals all its originality thanks to a flamboyant cast led by Véronique Gens, who sings for the occasion Armide for the first time.
