Bruges: Vox Luminis opens up Florilegium Portense
Florilegium Portense is a unique piece of the puzzle of Johann Sebastian Bach's genius. Every week, Bach drew upon some of this collection’s 265 German and Italian motets, many of them by star composers, such as Lassus, Praetorius and Gabrieli. Over the coming years, Vox Luminis – artist in residence at Concertgebouw Brugge – plans to publish and record the Florilegium. On 21 November, they present a first proof of the work and an insight into the work process. The climax of the evening called Ex libris Bach will be the master’s own motet Jesu, meine Freude.
