Pavia Barocca Christmas Festival 2018 - [ITALY - Pavia]

Like every year, Ghislierimusica – along with the Municipality of Pavia - promotes appointments devoted to the valorization of young musicians and ensembles that work in the field of early music, many of whom take part in the eeemerging project of which Ghislierimusica is co-organizer.

This year the festival hosts concerts by European Union Baroque Orchestra, young harpsichordist Justin Taylor, and eeemerging ensembles Il Quadro Animato and Palisander.

Also, the festival proposes many side events designed to be disseminated around the city, with special consideration for unusual and disadvantaged locations: hospital and hospices, suburbs and inclusion centers.

Thursday, 13 December, 09.00 PM, AMUZ  [BELGIUM]

The singing schools in Naples and Venice had an important role to play in the landscape of late Baroque music. Talented Venetian musicians were trained there for a future at the chapel of St. Mark’s. Tourists even viewed Italian churches as a kind of concert hall, where people went to enjoy the beautiful music of composers such as Antonio Vivaldi. He wrote his Nisi Dominus, named after the first words of Psalm 127, for vespers (the evening service). Jakub Józef Orlinski, the young countertenor who is causing a sensation on the early music scene, will perform in AMUZ for the first time in early December. The concert is greatly anticipated as it is also his first concert in Belgium.
